The embodiment of the invention discloses a water retaining threshold device which comprises a threshold arranged at the bottom of a door frame and rotatably connected with the edge of the bottom of the door frame; the detector is arranged on the side, facing the indoor space, of the door frame and used for detecting whether liquid exists in the monitoring area or not. And the data processing module is in communication connection with the detector and is used for receiving a detection signal of the detector, controlling a lifting device to drive the threshold to lift up when receiving a signal that the liquid is detected, and controlling the lifting device to drive the threshold to fall back to an initial position when receiving a signal that the liquid is not detected. If the signal that the liquid is not detected is received and the threshold is located at the initial position, the threshold is kept still; when the threshold is located at the initial position, the upper surface of the threshold is flush with the ground. Automatic lifting can be achieved, and therefore the experience of a user is improved in the aspects of convenience, sanitation, attractiveness and the like.
