The invention provides a water retaining threshold structure. The threshold structure is arranged on the ground and comprises waterproof layers, a threshold body and sealing layers; a concrete layer is further arranged on the ground; a floor is arranged above the concrete layer; the concrete layer is provided with a rectangular threshold groove extending to the ground; the threshold body is arranged in the threshold groove; the waterproof layers are arranged on the two side walls of the threshold body; and the sealing layers are arranged at the joints between the waterproof layers and the floor. The invention further provides a construction method of the water retaining threshold structure. The method is used for constructing the water retaining threshold structure and comprises the following steps that the threshold groove extending to the ground is chiseled in the concrete layer; the two waterproof layers are attached to the left side wall and the right side wall of the threshold groove respectively; concrete is poured into the threshold groove until the concrete is flush with the tops of the waterproof layers, and the concrete at the tops is flattened; and after the concrete issolidified, the sealing layers are smeared at the joints between the waterproof layers and the floor. According to the water retaining threshold structure constructed through the construction method of the water retaining threshold structure, the stability and the waterproof effect of a water retaining threshold are effectively improved.
