The invention provides a quick-setting plugging material which comprises the following components in parts by weight: 72-75 parts of sulphoaluminate cement, 15-25 parts of Portland cement, 5-8 parts of carborundum, 5-8 parts of quartz sand, 1-2 parts of cellulose, 1-2 parts of silica gel powder and 0.5-1 part of a water reducing agent, and 0.5-1 part of calcium stearate. The invention also provides a preparation method of the plugging material, and the provided plugging material can be constructed with water, has the effects of rapid condensation, high strength, water resistance, impermeability and the like, and can be suitable for plugging and water stopping of projects such as various underground buildings or structures, cable channels, pools, toilets and bathrooms, kitchens, civil air defense caverns, subways, tunnels and the like; and emergency repair of underground pipelines, tap water pipelines, dams and equipment foundations.
