The invention relates to a high-density zirconium tungstate solid solution ceramic and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the technical field of zirconium tungstate solid solution ceramics, the chemical formula of the zirconium tungstate solid solution ceramic is ZrW2-xMoxO8, 0 < = x < = 1, and the zirconium tungstate solid solution ceramic is of a simple cubic lattice and is of a skeleton net structure composed of a WO4 or MoO4 tetrahedron and a ZrO6 octahedron which share the same vertex angle. According to the high-density zirconium tungstate solid solution ceramic and the preparation method thereof, a zirconium tungstate solid solution precursor is synthesized at low temperature by adopting a combined method of a sol-gel method and a hydrothermal method, and then the high-density zirconium tungstate solid solution ceramic is rapidly prepared at low temperature by adopting a discharge plasma sintering method. Compared with zirconium tungstate prepared by a traditional 1250 DEG C solid-phase reaction method, the method has the advantages that the sintering temperature is lower, and the prepared high-density zirconium tungstate solid solution ceramic does not generate zirconium oxide, tungsten oxide and other impure substances.
