The invention discloses a displacement amplification type friction energy dissipation device which comprises an upper inner steel plate, a lower inner steel plate and at least one friction energy dissipation unit. The displacement amplification type friction energy dissipation device is a symmetrical body and is provided with a horizontal symmetry axis x and a vertical symmetry axis y. And the upper inner steel plate and the lower inner steel plate are symmetrically arranged up and down relative to a horizontal symmetry axis x and can be horizontally staggered under the action of external force. Each friction energy dissipation unit comprises two friction plates, a rotating component and a rotating limiting component. The two friction plates are symmetrically arranged on the two sides of the upper inner steel plate and the lower inner steel plate; the inner wall surface of the top of each friction plate is directly or indirectly in friction fit with the upper inner steel plate; and the inner wall surface of the bottom of each friction plate is directly or indirectly in friction fit with the lower inner steel plate. According to the displacement amplification type friction energy dissipater, the displacement amplification factor of the energy dissipater can be flexibly adjusted by changing the position relation between the pin shafts and the friction plates, and the bearing capacity of the energy dissipater can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of the friction plates, namely, connecting the friction plates in parallel.
