The invention provides a technology capable of improving the work efficiency of a work machine remotely operated by an operator through a remote operation device. Specifically, when the operator is not present at a designated location when operating the remote operation mechanism (211) in the remote operation device (20), the operation of the engine (460) is stopped. On the other hand, when the operator is present in the remote operation device (20) at a designated location when operating the remote operation mechanism (211), the operation of the engine (460) is continued without stopping the operation of the engine (460) even if an engine operation command is present.
