The invention provides plastering mortar and a preparation method thereof. The plastering mortar provided by the invention is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by mass: 200-700 parts of dry desulfurization ash; 250 to 750 parts of calcined gypsum; 30 to 100 parts of glass beads; 0.2 to 3 parts of a retarder; 1-3 parts of cellulose ether; 0.5 to 1.5 parts of starch ether; 0.5 to 1.5 parts of a thixotropic agent; 1-3 parts of a desulfurized fly ash modifier; the retarder is an alkali-resistant retarder. The dry desulfurization ash and the calcined gypsum are used as main raw materials and matched with the glass bead filler, meanwhile, the retarder, the cellulose ether, the starch ether, the thixotropic agent and the desulfurization ash modifier are added, and the additives are matched according to a certain amount, so that the setting time can be effectively delayed, the fluidity can be improved, and good strength can be ensured; due to the introduction of the dry desulfurization ash, the industrial solid waste is recycled, and the cost of the plastering mortar is greatly reduced.
