The invention discloses a garbage cleaning robot suitable for municipal drainage pipelines and an operation method.The device comprises a supporting device and a counter-force device, a hydraulic jack is installed between the supporting device and the counter-force device, the device comprises a robot body, a walking mechanism is arranged on the robot body, and one end of the robot body is connected with an automatic cleaning device; the automatic cleaning device is used for shoveling garbage in the pipeline to be loose and automatically storing and removing the garbage out of the pipeline. The robot is simple in structure, and by means of the rotary drum with the shovel plate, resistance can be better overcome in a rotary cutting mode to clean and load garbage; and meanwhile, the shovel plate can be opened and closed, packaging can be easily achieved after garbage is loaded, garbage falling is avoided, the garbage cleaning and loading efficiency is improved, cleaning and removing can be completed at a time during cleaning, and the situation that when a robot cleans the pipeline garbage, the robot slips, turns on one side and cannot continue cleaning can be avoided.
