The invention relates to kaolin. In order to improve the utilization rate of coal series kaolinite, the invention provides a preparation method of kaolinite for ceramic production, which comprises the following steps: (1) uniformly mixing coal series kaolinite, straw powder and a pH regulator to obtain a mixture A; (2) carrying out anoxic calcination on the mixture A obtained in the step (1) to obtain a mixture B; (3) carrying out secondary calcination on the mixture B obtained in the step (2) to obtain a mixture C; and (4) mixing the mixture C obtained in the step (3) with an additive, carrying out ball milling, and sintering in a furnace after ball milling to finally obtain the kaolin raw material. According to the preparation method of the kaolin for ceramic production, industrial and agricultural wastes such as coal series kaolin and straws, byproducts and the like can be effectively utilized to produce the kaolin, and the kaolin can be applied to preparation of high-quality ceramics.
