The invention discloses a sandstone geology dumbbell-shaped bearing platform cofferdam construction method which comprises the steps of building a construction platform, lowering a double-wall cofferdam, inserting and punching a thin beam cofferdam and punching the double-wall cofferdam, in the process of lowering the double-wall cofferdam, after soil in the double-wall cofferdam is grabbed out by using a grab bucket, the thin beam cofferdam is inserted and punched into a hole in the double-wall cofferdam; when the soil below the side wall of the double-wall cofferdam does not collapse inwards, the soil below the side wall of the double-wall cofferdam is blasted firstly, then soil blocks generated by blasting are discharged out of the double-wall cofferdam, the double-wall cofferdam continues to sink, and circulation is conducted till the double-wall cofferdam is lowered to the designed elevation; after the two double-wall cofferdams are both lowered in place, two rows of steel sheet piles are inserted between the two double-wall cofferdams, and the two double-wall cofferdams and the two rows of steel sheet piles form a thin beam cofferdam; and finally, holes are formed in the side walls of the opposite sides of the two double-wall cofferdams, so that the interiors of the double-wall cofferdams communicate with the interiors of the thin beam cofferdams. The method has the effect of improving the efficiency of the cofferdam in the sandstone geology.
