The invention relates to a positioning device and method for adjusting a bridge pier body formwork, and the device comprises a positioning rod which is used for being installed on the formwork; the first positioning mechanism is arranged on the positioning rod and is used for arranging the positioning rod at a set position of the template and enabling one end of the positioning rod to extend to the outer side of the template; and the first laser transmitter is arranged on the positioning rod and is used for projecting laser to the reference surface from the outer side of the template and positioning the template by matching a laser drop point with a reference point arranged on the reference surface.
