The invention discloses a molybdenum tailing micropowder admixture used in mortar or concrete and a preparation method thereof. The molybdenum tailing micropowder admixture comprises molybdenum tailings, triethanolamine accounting for 0.04-0.08% of the mass of the molybdenum tailings, sodium gluconate accounting for 0.1-0.2% of the mass of the molybdenum tailings and a polycarboxylic acid water reducer accounting for 0.05-0.15% of the mass of the molybdenum tailings. The preparation method comprises the following steps: firstly, fully mixing molybdenum tailings with water, then adding triethanolamine, sodium gluconate and a polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, mixing and ball-milling for 20-30 minutes, and drying to obtain the molybdenum tailing micro-powder admixture. The molybdenum tailings are subjected to a technical method of physical wet grinding and chemical auxiliary grinding, the fineness and dispersity of particles are improved while the ball milling time is greatly shortened, the energy consumption is greatly reduced, and the activity of the molybdenum tailing micro powder serving as an admixture in mortar or concrete is improved due to the reserved chemical auxiliaries.
