The invention belongs to the technical field of ship traction, and particularly discloses a system and method for dragging a ship through a ship lift. The system comprises two electric push wheels, a ship lift module, navigation walls on the upstream side and the downstream side, an electric push wheel and ship rapid connecting device and a remote centralized control system, and the two electric push wheels comprise push wheels and propelling systems integrated on the push wheels; a first guide device and a brake system are arranged on the ship lift module; second guiding devices and lifting systems are arranged on the navigation walls on the upstream side and the downstream side. The quick connecting device for the electric push wheel and the ship comprises a connecting male head and a connecting female head which are arranged in a matched mode. The operation safety and efficiency of the ship lift can be improved to a great extent, tail gas and noise pollution can be reduced when a ship passes through the ship lift through traction of the electric push wheels, the operation cost of the ship side can be saved, the traction system is easy to operate and maintain, and the navigation operation guarantee rate of the ship lift is increased.
