The invention relates to the technical field of underground powerhouse construction, in particular to a water-collecting well excavation method, which reduces the risk of rockburst by releasing crustal stress before excavation, and comprises the following steps: determining an area to be excavated according to crustal stress data obtained by actual measurement; the included angle between the maximum crustal stress direction of the to-be-excavated area and the horizontal plane is smaller than 15 degrees; the oval cavern is excavated in the area to be excavated, the long axis of the oval cavern is horizontal, and the tunneling direction of the oval cavern is located in the horizontal plane; taking the long axis as a parting line and taking the lower half wall of the elliptical cavern as a tunnel face, and forming a plurality of first advanced stress release holes in the tunnel face along an excavation boundary; a first flat bottom groove is excavated downwards from the tunnel face; a plurality of second advanced stress release holes are formed in the groove bottom face of the first flat bottom groove along the excavation boundary; and a second flat-bottom groove is excavated downwards from the groove bottom face of the first flat-bottom groove to form a water collecting well. In the construction process, the stress borne by the generated fracture surface is small, and the risk of rock burst is small.
