The invention discloses a creeping type construction platform for a main cable of a suspension bridge and an advancing control method thereof.The creeping type construction platform comprises the main cable, jacking mechanisms matched with the main cable are arranged at the two ends of a platform body, a hanging mechanism matched with the main cable is slidably connected to the platform body, and the jacking mechanisms are used for achieving jacking supporting of the platform body relative to the main cable; the hanging mechanism is used for achieving sliding operation of the platform body relative to a main cable, and the jacking mechanism and the hanging mechanism are alternately used. The traction mechanism is connected between the platform body and the main cable and used for dragging the platform body to slide and advance in the length direction of the main cable when the hanging mechanism is used. The jacking mechanism and the hanging mechanism are controlled to be alternately used, when the hanging mechanism is used, the jacking mechanism is separated from the main cable, and the traction mechanism drags the platform body to slide and advance in the length direction of the main cable; when the jacking mechanism is used, the hanging mechanism is separated from the main cable, so that the position of the hanging mechanism is adjusted, and a moving space is provided for next dragging and advancing of the traction mechanism.
