The invention discloses a side slope protection structure and a construction method thereof. The side slope protection structure comprises a multi-step-shaped side slope, and the multi-step-shaped side slope is formed through slope surface excavation; the integrated framework is fixed on each stage of side slope of the multi-stage stepped side slope; the integrated framework comprises a plurality of vertical monomer structures and inclined monomer structures, the plurality of vertical monomer structures are arranged on each stage of side slope of the multi-stage stepped side slope at intervals, and each vertical monomer structure comprises at least two vertical drainage pipes which are connected up and down through a plurality of second springs; each inclined single body structure comprises two inclined water guide pipes which are arranged in a splayed shape, and the two inclined water guide pipes which are arranged in the splayed shape are semi-cylindrical pipelines which are vertically attached to the slope surface and fixed and are provided with upward openings; and each inclined single body structure is arranged between two adjacent vertical single body structures and at the joint of two vertically connected vertical drainage pipes. And water storage tanks are mounted in the concrete shell on two sides of the vertical drainage pipe. The drainage performance, the water supplementing performance and the stability are all considered.
