The invention discloses a wall type stepped friction type damper which comprises a wall connecting top plate, a wall connecting bottom plate, wall connecting bolts, a connecting rod used for connecting the top plate and the bottom plate and a plurality of energy consumption assemblies used for energy consumption. The damper is installed in a damping wall of a building structure. The wall-connecting top plate, the wall-connecting bottom plate, the wall-connecting bolts and the connecting rods play a role in a damping wall and an energy dissipation assembly of a building main body and guarantee normal work of the whole damper. Wherein the energy consumption assembly comprises a friction plate I, a pre-tightening force bolt, a spring, a friction plate II and a limiting plate, the energy consumption assembly achieves energy consumption through friction force between the friction plate I and the friction plate II, the pre-tightening force bolt is used for providing positive pressure between the friction plates, resetting is achieved through the spring, and repeated energy consumption is achieved. Friction energy dissipation is carried out through the multiple energy dissipation assemblies, and by designing the top plate protrusions and the energy dissipation assemblies at different intervals, the purpose that different numbers of energy dissipation assemblies work under different earthquake types is achieved, and the step energy dissipation function is achieved.
