The invention discloses a single-wall double-chamber steel boxed cofferdam and a construction method thereof. The cofferdam is arranged on the periphery of the double-column pier and comprises a peripheral frame system, an internal supporting system and a bottom positioning system. The peripheral frame system comprises side plates, longitudinal reinforcing ribs, transverse reinforcing ribs and corner splicing pieces; the internal supporting system comprises I-shaped diagonal bracings, inclined bracings and pier column diagonal bracings; the bottom positioning system comprises a bearing platform and a positioning bracket. The single-wall double-chamber design is adopted, the bottom pier columns of the double-column type pier can be transformed and constructed at the same time, and the construction time is greatly saved. In addition, by means of the sectional type assembling method, the components have the characteristic of being capable of being recycled for multiple times, low carbon and environmental protection are achieved, and the construction cost is effectively reduced.
