The invention relates to the technical field of concrete, and particularly discloses light heat insulation concrete and a preparation method thereof. The light heat insulation concrete is formed by pouring and curing a concrete mixture; the concrete mixing material comprises the following components in parts by mass: 100 parts of water; 180 to 185 parts of cement; 34 to 36 parts of fly ash; 680 to 700 parts of aggregate; 450 to 470 parts of hollow glass beads; 2.5 to 2.7 parts of a water reducing agent; 3.3 to 3.5 parts of a reinforcing auxiliary agent; the reinforcing auxiliary agent is prepared by compounding polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyhydroxybutyrate and tributyl phosphate. The method has the advantages that the strength loss is reduced while the heat insulation performance of the concrete is improved.
