The present disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing a building panel (10), comprising: providing a core (1); applying a first paper layer (2) on the first surface (11) of the core (1), wherein the first paper layer (2) comprises a resin-impregnated paper (2a); applying refined lignocellulosic fibres (3) on the first paper layer (2); applying a wood veneer layer (4) above the refined lignocellulose fibers (3); pressure is applied to the core (1), the first paper layer (2), the refined lignocellulosic fibers (3) and the wood veneer layer (4) to form the building panel (10). The present disclosure also relates to such a building panel (10).
