The invention relates to the technical field of silicon carbide, and discloses a process for depositing a silicon carbide coating on the surface of a graphite piece, which comprises the following steps of: 1, cleaning the surface of the graphite piece by using ultrasonic waves to ensure that no impurity exists; 2, mixing silicon carbide, white corundum micro powder, alumina micro powder, ceramic powder, chromic oxide, green micro powder, spodumene and oil sludge in proportion; 3, adding sodium hydroxide water into the mixture, and stirring and mixing; step 4, adding the silica sol into the mixture added with the sodium hydroxide water again, and mixing and stirring; 5, the surface of the graphite piece is evenly coated with the stirred coating to form a coating; and 6, naturally drying the graphite piece coated with the coating in the shade.
