The invention provides a steel box girder mounting method, and relates to the technical field of bridge construction. According to the steel box girder installation method, for a target steel box girder needing to be installed on the pier top of a target pier column, if the target steel box girder meets the splitting condition, splitting treatment is conducted, and at least two sections of sub steel box girders are formed; hoisting the sub-steel box girders to the pier top of the target pier column one by one by using a hoisting device mounted on the mounted girder section of the bridge; and moving the sub-steel box girders to corresponding preset mounting positions by using a moving device to complete splicing between the sub-steel box girders and the mounted girder sections and splicing between the sub-steel box girders. According to the embodiment of the invention, the use of a floating crane can be avoided, the installation of the steel box girder in the shallow water area is realized, the influence on the environment is reduced, the speed is high, the efficiency is high, and the bridge construction efficiency is improved.
