The invention discloses a construction method for mounting a steel box girder across an existing bridge, which comprises the following steps of: placing first hoisting equipment and second hoisting equipment as well as a first steel box girder and a second steel box girder on the same side of the existing bridge, hoisting the first steel box girder and the second steel box girder to the existing bridge in sequence through the first hoisting equipment and the second hoisting equipment, and hoisting the first steel box girder and the second steel box girder to the existing bridge; then the first steel box girder is hoisted to the steel box girder mounting position through first hoisting equipment, then the second steel box girder is moved out from the lower portion of the first steel box girder and then hoisted to the steel box girder mounting position, and therefore interference between the first steel box girder and the second steel box girder and a building on the side edge of an existing bridge during hoisting can be avoided; and interference between the second steel box girder and the first steel box girder and between the second steel box girder and the piers on the two sides during hoisting can be avoided. Therefore, the construction method can be suitable for the situation that other buildings exist on the two sides of the existing bridge and other construction sites are narrow.
