The invention belongs to the technical field of refractory materials, and particularly relates to application of a rare earth antioxidant in preparation of a carbon-containing refractory material. Specifically, the mass fraction of the rare earth antioxidant is 1-3% of the mass of the carbon-containing refractory material, the mass fraction of the rare earth elements is larger than or equal to 1% of the mass of the carbon-containing refractory material, and the rare earth antioxidant is formed by mixing rare earth metal powder or rare earth metal powder and metal aluminum powder. The rare earth antioxidant provided by the invention can effectively inhibit the formation of an oxidation decarburization layer in the carbon-containing refractory material, improve the oxidation resistance of the carbon-containing refractory material and reduce the oxidation speed of the carbon-containing refractory material. Meanwhile, the service life of the carbon-containing refractory material can be remarkably prolonged, the high-temperature performance of the carbon-containing refractory material can be remarkably improved, and the carbon-containing refractory material has high popularization value and potential application prospects.
