The preparation method of the silicon carbide fiber comprises the following steps: mixing ethanol and water, adjusting the pH value of a mixed solution to 2-3, and carrying out hydrolysis reaction to obtain a mixed solution A; adding a carbon source, a silicon source and a magnetic metal catalyst into the mixed solution A, uniformly stirring to obtain a mixed solution B, adjusting the pH value of the mixed solution B to 9-10, and carrying out condensation polymerization to prepare a precursor; performing compression molding on the precursor to obtain a precursor blank, covering the precursor blank with a wave-transparent material, and performing microwave sintering at 1000-1200 DEG C to obtain the silicon carbide fiber. The method can effectively shorten the sintering time and reduce the sintering temperature. The excessive consumption of energy is reduced, and meanwhile, the silicon carbide fiber with uniform aperture size, large length-diameter ratio and large fiber quantity is prepared.
