The invention relates to the technical field of building materials, in particular to a monomer for preparing a water reducing agent, a preparation method of the monomer, the water reducing agent prepared from the monomer and a preparation method of the water reducing agent. Wherein the monomer for preparing the water reducing agent, namely a monomer M, has a structural unit as shown in a formula 1: # imgabs0 #, R1 is hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl, and R1 can be a mixture of groups meeting the conditions; m is an integer of 10-50, and n is an integer of 2-5. The monomer not only can further modify an adsorption group, but also has a steric hindrance group, can be subjected to synchronous modification-polycondensation to obtain a water reducing agent, and can achieve the synergy of high water reduction, wide adaptation and fast dispersion which are difficult to achieve by a common high-performance water reducing agent.
