The invention discloses a viscous damping module unit with variable damping and self-resetting characteristics, which integrates a self-resetting technology and a shear viscous damping shock absorption technology and introduces variable viscous damping characteristics. A conventional clearance type viscous damping wall can reduce dynamic response through shear energy consumption of a viscous damping medium under high-frequency dynamic excitation; the self-resetting technology can reduce the residual displacement of the structure in a wide load frequency domain, and ensures the automatic and rapid recovery capability of the structure after the uncertain earthquake action. A plurality of viscous damping module units can be connected in parallel or in series in the same direction to enhance energy consumption or deformation capacity, and a plurality of viscous damping module units can be connected in series in two directions to realize two-way shock absorption and energy consumption, so that the viscous damping module units are more advanced in structural design, the rigidity and damping of the viscous damping module units can be adaptively changed according to a preset control target, and the performance of the viscous damping module units is improved. Cooperative damping control requirements on cost effectiveness, bearing capacity, energy dissipation capacity, reset capacity, comfort and the like can be met, and the damping device has a wide application prospect.
