The invention belongs to the technical field of inorganic material dyeing, and discloses organic-inorganic composite water-based dyeing color sand and a preparation method thereof. The dyed colored sand comprises to-be-dyed sand and a dye film layer attached to the surface of the to-be-dyed sand, the sand to be dyed is formed by coating a catalyst solution on the surface of a sand material through stirring; the dye film layer is formed in the mode that organic-inorganic composite water-based dyeing slurry is attached to the surface of sand to be dyed through stirring, the organic-inorganic composite water-based dyeing slurry is cross-linked to form a film on the surface of the sand to be dyed under the action of a catalyst, and then drying and curing are conducted. The organic-inorganic composite water-based dyeing slurry is prepared from the following raw materials: water, a dispersing agent, an inorganic binder, anionic group modified polyvinyl alcohol resin, an inorganic pigment, a defoaming agent and an optional filler. The dyed color sand is easy to industrially produce, the energy consumption in the preparation process is low, and the phenomenon of particle aggregation is not prone to occurring.
