The invention provides an operation method and an operation device of a mechanical parking device, which can efficiently and safely operate the mechanical parking device by a user. An operation method for a mechanical parking device (10) provided with an operation panel (3) for a user to operate the opening and closing of an entrance/exit door (21) of a parking room (2) for entering or exiting a vehicle (C), the operation panel (3) being provided with an authentication device (31) for authenticating the user and an operation button (32) for performing an operation related to the mechanical parking device (10). The operation method comprises the following steps: an unattended confirmation step (Step9), wherein the operation button (32) is used for carrying out unattended confirmation on the boarding and alighting room (2); and an operation/operation authentication step (Step10) for simultaneously processing an operation for closing the entrance/exit door (21) and user authentication for authenticating the user using the authentication device (31).
