The invention relates to an intelligent traffic road cone and a folding and unfolding method thereof. The method comprises the steps of collecting construction operation area information, dividing functional sections of a construction operation area, and making a road rasterized map by combining the occupied area of the intelligent traffic road cone; according to the traffic road cone placing standard and the construction operation plan, intelligent traffic road cone placing grids are screened; and initializing the intelligent traffic road cone, and generating an intelligent traffic road cone moving path by taking the shortest occupied road moving distance as a strategy. The directional movement of the intelligent traffic road cone is controlled, so that the construction efficiency is improved, and the risk that the traffic road cone is collided when being manually collected and released is reduced; constructors can control the intelligent traffic road cones to enter or leave the lane and temporarily park on the outer side of the emergency lane through software, and potential safety hazards caused by manual road cone placement of the constructors are reduced; through the sensing and early warning module of the intelligent traffic road cone, the vehicle distance and the vehicle speed of upstream vehicles on a construction lane are sensed, acousto-optic warning is given out in time, construction workers are reminded, and the possibility of safety accidents is reduced.
