The invention relates to the field of subsea tunnel construction, in particular to a side ditch cover plate for a subsea tunnel and an installation method. The side ditches are synchronously formed in the one-time pouring forming process of the anti-collision curbstone and are of a U-shaped structure. The side ditch cover plate comprises a plurality of cover plate units arranged in the length direction of a side ditch, and the cover plate assembly is arranged at the opening position of the side ditch, is coplanar with an asphalt pavement of a subsea tunnel traffic lane and is used for covering the side ditch and widening the width of the traffic lane. The supporting piece is arranged below the cover plate assembly, used for supporting the cover plate assembly and comprises a fixing plate and a supporting plate, and the supporting plate comprises a side plate and an arc-shaped bottom support. When a vehicle rolls the cover plate assembly, the supporting plate moves downwards, the arc-shaped bottom support is pressed to deform, supporting force is generated, and the cover plate is prevented from falling off or turning on one side. And after rolling, the arc-shaped bottom support is reset, and the cover plate assembly is reset accordingly.
