The invention discloses a grouting material for blast furnace taphole maintenance and a preparation method thereof, the grouting material adopts tar, clay, expandable graphite, bentonite, kyanite, pyrophyllite powder, silica, a plasticizer and other components to form reasonable temperature gradient gradation, and has different expansion properties corresponding to different temperature gradients. The prepared grouting material has the characteristic of good fluidity, the grouting material can be fully squeezed into a gap through on-line high-pressure grouting operation at a grouting hole in an iron notch cooling wall, the drilling power and the permeability are good in the pressing process, the grouting material can slowly creep in a small gap, the purpose of complete permeation can be achieved, and the grouting material has the characteristics of good fluidity along with continuous rising of the temperature. The expandable graphite, the kyanite, the silica and other materials are heated to continuously expand along with temperature gradient rising, dense filling of small gaps or honeycomb gaps in the iron notch area is achieved, a furnace lining around the blast furnace iron notch is effectively repaired, the maintenance performance of the blast furnace iron notch area is improved, and the service life of the blast furnace iron notch area is prolonged.
