The invention discloses a cross-shaped to rounded rectangular steel column joint structure and a machining method thereof. The cross-shaped to rounded rectangular steel column joint structure comprises a cross-shaped steel column section and a rounded rectangular steel column section. The rounded rectangular steel column section is of a hollow annular cavity structure; the cross-shaped steel column section comprises an H-shaped steel beam and two T-shaped steel beams, and first web plates of the two T-shaped steel beams are symmetrically welded to the two sides of a second web plate of the H-shaped steel beam. The first web plate extends upwards to exceed the top end of the first wing plate of the T-shaped steel beam, the second web plate extends upwards to exceed the top end of the second wing plate of the H-shaped steel beam, and the first web plate and the second web plate enter the rounded rectangular steel column section and are connected with the rounded rectangular steel column section in a welded mode. The cross-shaped to rounded rectangular steel column joint structure provided by the invention can meet the requirement that a building needs different forms in different directions.
