Compared with the prior art, the invention provides a small-sized robot with a variable diameter. The variable-diameter miniature robot further comprises a machine body with the adjustable diameter, a moving module for driving the machine body to move in the river channel, a smashing module arranged at the bottom of the machine body in a matched mode and used for conducting smashing treatment on the sludge, and a suction module arranged on the machine body in a matched mode and used for sucking the sludge. The total diameter of the machine body can be adjusted, the machine body can effectively cope with complex terrains so as to adapt to river channel environments with different widths, therefore, dredging operation is effectively executed, interference to the environment can be reduced, meanwhile, the operation efficiency is improved, and the operation cost is reduced.
