The invention discloses toughened mullite ceramic and a preparation method thereof.The toughened mullite ceramic is prepared from, by weight, 80-120 parts of ceramic blank, 20-40 parts of kaolinite, 8-20 parts of hydromuscovite, 4-8 parts of mullite fiber, 6-12 parts of aluminum oxide particles, 14-24 parts of attapulgite and 6-12 parts of graphene, and relates to the technical field of ceramic materials. The mechanical property of the ceramic is improved by adopting a method of adding mullite, the mullite is uniformly added into the ceramic material, and the mullite is used as a toughening phase of a matrix, so that the fracture toughness and the relative strength of the composite material are remarkably enhanced.
