The invention provides a preparation method of a metakaolin-based phosphate geopolymer. The preparation method comprises the following steps: taking metakaolin and a phosphate solution as raw materials, adding magnesium oxide, and uniformly stirring; and standing and curing at room temperature to a preset age. The metakaolin and the phosphate solution are used as reaction raw materials, the magnesium oxide additive is added, synthesis and curing forming of the geopolymer at the room temperature are achieved, heating operation is not needed, the process is simple, a large amount of energy can be saved, and engineering application is easy.
