The invention discloses a damper with a symmetrical damping device. The damper comprises a frame. The first mass block group and the second mass block are arranged in the frame in a manner of moving up and down, the first mass block group is stacked above the second mass block, and the first mass block group and the second mass block are detachably connected; the top end of the upper damping device is fixed to the top of the frame, and the bottom end of the upper damping device penetrates through the first mass block set to be fixed to the top end of the second mass block. The lower damping device is fixed at the bottom end of the second mass block; and the spring set is vertically arranged in the frame, and the spring set is located between the bottom of the frame and the second mass block. Compared with an existing tuned mass damper, the damper has more stable mechanical performance, damping parameter precise design and modular production of the damper can be achieved, the consistency of the actual value and the design value of the performance parameter of the damper is ensured, the environmental adaptability and the vibration reduction/suppression effect of the damper are comprehensively improved, and the cost is reduced.
