The preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing tantalum carbide powder and a binder to obtain first slurry; sequentially carrying out spray drying treatment, first screening, pre-sintering treatment and second screening on the first slurry to obtain spherical tantalum carbide particles; the particle size of the spherical tantalum carbide particles is 10 [mu] m-30 [mu] m; mixing the spherical tantalum carbide particles with the tantalum carbide powder, a sintering aid, a nonionic polymer binder and an organic solvent to obtain a mixture; the particle size of the tantalum carbide powder ranges from 0.05 micrometer to 0.5 micrometer. And carrying out wet ball milling on the mixture to obtain the tantalum carbide slurry. The tantalum carbide slurry prepared by the method provided by the invention can reduce pores or cracks of a tantalum carbide coating and improve the relative density of the coating.
