The invention relates to a method for calibrating a machine-integrated measuring system (8) of a track tamping machine (1). In order to create advantageous calibration conditions, a locus curve (RK) is first measured and stored using an inertial navigation system (INS) over a particular measurement path (>l) along an at least approximately straight piece of track, and the same path is measured and stored using the machine-integrated measuring system (8), wherein the versines and longitudinal heights (fINS) are calculated from the locus curve (RK) allowing for the cord division (a, b) of the measurement cord (l) into the locus curve (RK), and wherein a difference curve (fINS-fM) is formed from the versines and longitudinal heights (fINS) and the versines and longitudinal heights (fM) and from this difference curve (fINS-fM) a mean value (MW ƒINS- ƒ M ) is calculated over the measurement path, which mean value corresponds to an offset (ΔF) by which the machine-integrated system (8) is subsequently calibrated.
