The invention relates to a drive unit (5) for a swing-leaf door (1), comprising: an electric motor (6), in particular a servomotor (6a), having a motor shaft for pivoting a door leaf (3) relative to a door frame (2); a control/adjustment unit (9) that is configured to move the door leaf (3) into a target angular position (α1, α2) by controlling and/or adjusting the electric motor (6); and an electrically actuatable brake (7), the brake (7) being configured, when substantially electrically deenergized, to preferably frictionally generate a holding braking moment (Mhold) and impart same to the door leaf (3) in order to hold the door leaf (3) in the target angular position (α1, α2) when a disturbance torque acts on the door leaf (3), and, when electrically energized, to generate a release braking moment (Mrelease), which is reduced in relation to the holding braking moment (Mhold), and impart same to the door leaf (3). The invention furthermore relates to a method for pivoting a door leaf (3) of a swing-leaf door (1).
