Device for splicing reinforcement cages
A device 110 for splicing a first reinforcement cage 12 to a second reinforcement cage 22 wherein the first cage comprises a suspension band 30 adjacent to one of its ends and the second cage carries the device adjacent one of its ends, the device comprising: a first anchoring portion 112 attached to said second cage adjacent said one, a second anchoring portion 114 connected to the first anchoring portion and radially spaced there from to define a radial suspension gap 118 between the first and second anchoring portions; and - a suspension member anchored in each of said first and second portions so as to bridge said suspension gap with the suspension band of the first cage located in said suspension gap Preferably the first and second anchoring portions are parts of a bifurcated, e.g. U-sectioned, or a three-sectioned, support plate or yoke. The suspension member e.g. a bolt, is thus supported at both its ends by the first and second anchoring portions in the manner of a simply supported beam as the spliced reinforcement cages are lifted together.
