Construction product
A construction product and method of manufacturing the construction product is defined. The method comprises obtaining and pyrolyzing feedstock and mixing the pyrolyzed feedstock with a binder comprising at least one of an alkaline earth metal oxide e.g. magnesium oxide and/or alkaline earth metal hydroxide e.g. calcium hydroxide to form the construction product. The mixture may be cured via heating, which may be achieved by burning biogas or bio-oil generated from pyrolyzing of the feedstock. The construction product may be an insulation board, acoustic panel, tile, block, or lintel, or may be a plaster or render. The pyrolyzed feedstock may comprise pyrolyzed bio-aggregate. The bio-aggregate or feedstock may be an agricultural by-product, and may comprise one or more of maize, wheat, rice, barley, millet, grasses, rice husk, straw, squash, pumpkin, watermelon, cucumber, melon, hops, cannabis, celtis tress, nettles, wildflowers, rape straw, algae, seaweed, bamboo, rapeseed, oats, flax, rice straw, corn straw, giant miscanthus, sugarcane bagasse, sisal straw, and/or hemp. The bio-aggregate or feedstock may comprise plants selected from one or more of Poaceae, Equisetaceae, Cyperaceae, Cucurbitales, Urticales, and/or Commelinaceae families. The mixture may further comprise one or more additives selected from viscosity modifying agents, coupling agents, and/or water retention agents.
