A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A method for preaugering and preparing a pile line in weathered rock on a construction site, comprising the steps of; defining a central line relating to where the sheet piling is to be installed; auguring a first hole of a first series (310 Fig. 3a), with a diameter of x mm at a first position, with the centre of the first hole positioned on the central line; where the material is loosened but not removed; auguring a second hole (312) of the with a diameter of x mm, with the centre of the second hole on the central line, where the separation, y, between the centre of the first and the second hole is given by 1.25 x ≤ y ≤ 1.8x mm; repeating the auguring step for the first series of holes (n-2) times, to produce a series of n holes, all with centres along the central line, where the separation between each successive hole of the first series is given by 1.25x ≤ y ≤ 1.8 x mm; augering a first hole 322of a second series of holes with a diameter of x mm , where the first hole of the second series is located between the first and second holes of the first series, with a centre on the central line, so that the circumference overlaps with the first and second holes of the first series to form a lens shape 352, 356; repeating the auguring step for the second series of holes (n-1) times, to produce a second series of n holes, where the nth hole of the second series is located between the nth and n+1th hole of the first series, so that the circumference of the nth hole of the second series overlaps with the circumference of the nth and n+1th holes of the first series; inserting sheet piling 370 in the loosened material of the holes.
