Tap assembly and waste grate
A tap assembly 100 includes a tap body (112, Fig. 7) having a fluid communication channel 110 extending between an inlet 102 and an outlet 104, and a waste outlet or drain 120 for attachment to a sink or basin (302, Fig. 1/4) to allow wastewater to drain from the sink, the fluid communication channel extending through the waste outlet in use. A waste grate (200, Fig. 6) supports the fluid communication channel in use and may include a material that expands, or has increased friction, when wet to grip the tap body. The inlet 102 may extend out of the side wall (122, Fig. 4) of the waste channel 140 below the drain. The outlet may comprise a removable spout (114, Fig. 7) facilitating storage or transport. The system avoids the need to mount the tap in a surface on or adjacent a sink, particularly useful for low space installations such as boats, campervans or aeroplanes. An internal valve assembly may be manually or electronically remotely controlled to allow hot and cold inlets to flow into the fluid channel.
