FRICTION DAMPER
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict a reduction in efficiency of a friction damper caused by a bending moment acted against the friction damper.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a friction damper comprising a first press contacting plate integrally arranged with one of a pair of members and bridged between the pair of members; a second press contacting plate integrally arranged with the other of a pair of members; and a fastening member for press contacting plate thickness direction crossing at a right angle with an opposing surfaces of the first press contacting plate and the second press contacting plate. A bending moment acts on the friction damper, and a moment of inertia of area of a section where a location of the first press contacting plate positioned between one member and the fastening member in a prescribed direction is cut along a width direction and the plate thickness direction is larger than a moment of inertia of area of a section where a location in the locations at the first press contacting plate overlapped on the fastening member in a prescribed direction enclosed by its opposing surface against the second press contacting plate, the opposite surface against the opposing surface, its extended surface and a pair of side surfaces in a width direction is cut along the width direction and the plate thickness direction.
