PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction damper capable of improving efficiency of converting kinetic energy into frictional heat, and a structure having the friction damper.SOLUTION: To at least one of a first surface of a slide plate and a first stationary plate, a first friction plate is fixed, and on the other one of the first surface of the slide plate and the first stationary plate, a first friction surface contacting with the first friction plate is provided. The first friction plate is parallel with the first friction surface and a first direction parallel with the first friction surface, and freely moves in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2A
