PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide original yarn for artificial turf pile, which is excellent in abrasion resistance, which is more akin in appearance to a natural turf, and which has excellent slidability.SOLUTION: Original yarn for artificial turf pile is made of a thermoplastic resin. The thermoplastic resin is molecularly oriented in a face direction including a lengthwise direction and a yarn-width direction, by lengthwise drawing and crushing from a thickness direction.
