PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon nitride sintered body excellent in property such as processability and rolling life, a manufacturing method therefor and a rolling element for bearing.SOLUTION: There is provided a silicon nitride sintered body containing (a) particles containing β-sialon represented by SiAlON, (b) a grain boundary containing rare earth element, Al and Ca, (c) particles containing one or more kind of element selected from Ti, Zr, Hf, W or the like and/or particles containing SiC with solid solution amount z value of the (a) of 0.1 to 1.0, average particle diameter in a major diameter of the (a) of 3 μm or less, maximum particle diameter in the major diameter of the (a) of 30 μm or less, an aspect ratio of the (a) of 5 or less, average particle diameter of the (c) of 3 μm or less and diameter of an aggregate of a micro pore of 100 μm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
