DIMMER AND DIMMING PLATE
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimmer capable of adjusting a transmitted light quantity in a continuous graded manner upon switching from a bright state to a dark state and capable of performing natural switching without giving a visible dark or bright stripe zone during switching a bright/dark state.SOLUTION: A dimmer 1 includes a pair of dimming plates 2A, 2B having transparent substrates 3A, 3B, polarizing layers 4A, 4B disposed on one surface side of the transparent substrates 3A, 3B, and patterned retardation layers 5A, 5B formed on the opposite surfaces of the polarizing layers 4A, 4B to the surfaces in contact with the transparent substrates 3A, 3B, respectively, the dimming plates disposed in such a manner that the patterned retardation layers 5A, 5B oppose to each other and configured to be relatively movable to each other. Linear alignment regions 7A, 7B are formed as patterns in the patterned retardation layers 5A, 5B, respectively, and the alignment regions have such a pattern width that the dimming plates exhibit continuous gradation property in the changes in a bright/dark state when the plates relatively move.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】明状態から暗状態への切替時に、透過する光量を連続階調的に調節することが可能であり、明暗状態の切替途中で暗色もしくは明色の帯を視認することなく、自然な切替が可能な調光装置を提供する。【解決手段】調光装置1は透明基材3A,3Bと、透明基材3A,3Bの一方の面側に配置された偏光層4A,4Bと、偏光層4A,4Bの透明基材3A,3Bと接する面と対向する表面に形成されたパターン位相差層5A,5Bと、を有する一対の調光板2A,2Bがパターン位相差層5A,5Bを向かい合わせるように配置され、かつ相対移動するように構成されており、パターン位相差層5A,5Bにはライン状の配向領域7A,7Bがパターン状に形成されており、相対移動時の明暗状態の変化に連続階調性を示すことが可能なパターン幅を有する。【選択図】図1
