PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimmer in which the occurrence of problems related to color tones is prevented.SOLUTION: A dimmer 10 includes: a first polarizer 20; a second polarizer 22 disposed separately from the first polarizer; and a first pattern phase difference film 30a and a second pattern phase difference film 30b that are disposed between the first polarizer and the second polarizer and having a plurality of slow axis directions in an identical plane. A predetermined relation is satisfied by, in the first pattern phase difference film and the second pattern phase difference film: an in-plane retardation value measured at a wavelength of 450 nm; an in-plane retardation value measured at a wavelength of 550 nm; and an in-plane retardation value measured at a wavelength of 650 nm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
